California's Most Authentic Wine Experience

Amador County wine country is often described as the way Napa was 30 years ago — unpretentious, deeply personal, and bursting with character. Centered around the Shenandoah Valley, this Gold Rush-era region has quietly been producing some of California's most exciting and undiscovered wines for generations.

The ancient Zinfandel vines here — some over 100 years old — produce wines of extraordinary depth and complexity. The Barbera grape, originally Italian but perfectly suited to Amador's hot days and cool nights, is some of the finest outside of Piedmont. The Syrahs, Tempranillos, and other Italian varietals from this region are genuine discoveries waiting to be made.

What makes Amador truly special is the people. Family ownership is the rule, not the exception. Tastings take place in repurposed barns and farmhouses as well as modern cozy tasting rooms. Winemakers pour their own wine, tell their own stories, and love nothing more than sharing a great bottle with curious visitors. It's wine tourism as it was meant to be.
